Most industrial ETPs and STPs in India were commissioned between 2000 and 2015 — designed for the production volumes, process chemistries, and CPCB standards of their time. Those standards have since been tightened. Production at many facilities has grown by 30–100%. Equipment has aged and degraded. And the combination of OCEMS real-time monitoring and more consistent SPCB enforcement means that the periodic compliance failures that used to pass unnoticed are now automatically flagged and documented.
