The Sequential Batch Reactor process is deceptively simple in concept: instead of moving wastewater through a series of different tanks for each treatment step, an SBR completes all biological treatment steps mixing, aeration, settling, and decanting in a single tank, in timed cycles. What happens inside those cycles is where the engineering lives, and understanding each phase is essential to operating and troubleshooting an SBR system effectively.
