Most industrial plant managers know what a clarifier does gravity pulls suspended solids down and they settle at the bottom. It is intuitive. But for a significant category of industrial wastewater, gravity-based settling does not work well. The contaminants are too light, too emulsified, or too fine to settle in any reasonable timeframe. Conventional clarifiers either fail to achieve CPCB discharge standards or require enormous tanks and long residence times to get close.
